Having lived in Cumbria, not too far from the castle, this video will always be very dear to me. I love the North and its history, the rugged countryside of the boarders is spectacular and I’m sure it won’t be long before I return to its castles and the wall.

Carlisle castle’s geographical position, close to the Scottish boarder, made it both a strategic stronghold, and target for offensive campaigns. For over 900 years, it’s been a focus of continuous military use, and besieged ten times, more than any other site in Britain. With a such a long and bloody history, it should be no surprise that the pain of those who died within its walls, have left their marks.
