recording simultaneous evp

Many years ago during an EVP study, I put forward a sample of an EVP that was duplicated on two digital recorders. Because this is not a frequent occurance or well documented in research, it was alleged my recording was fraudulent by those who could not replicate the phenomena. I stand by that original recording, and I decided to revisit the experiment, using different recording devices, but with updated software for analysis.

I used an Olympus VN2100 digital dictaphone and an Optimus cassette recorder; both are easily obtained and neither have had any modification. Putting a new tape in the cassette recorder, and placing the dictaphone beside it, the recording was allowed to run for just over ten minutes. Both recordings were transferred via a 3.5mm audio cable to a Toshiba laptop running audacity, before cleaning and clipping with Adobe Audition on a Mac.

The results were far better than expected. Background noise on the tape is greater than the dictaphone, yet at times, the clarity of the tape surpased the cleaned digital recording. I have included my speech along with the EVP, so that you may appreciate the comparrison of the TAPE versus DIGITAL voices and their placement.

Only one set of EVP (no.3) has been interpreted as being exactly the same, this may be because it was a name, and not an emotive expression.

Whilst clips 1, 2 and 4 have expressions in common relating to actions, the TAPE and DIGITAL versions do not sound similar and words are identifiably different.

The anomaly of simultaneous EVP with differing content, raises the question of how the transmission of EVP takes place. Is the speaker generating a physical sound wave, or is the capture imprinted on devices, through psychic manipulation of residual environmental noise? I suspect that the sender or speaker's message, has been modulated in someway by the receiving device.

As is often the case, further experimentation is needed both to document the process with these specific devices, and to establish if the results are consistently simultaneous on parallel recordings.

If having reviewed the clips, you doubt my methodolgy and results as being genuine, I will gladly sit down with you to do a recording, demonstrating the full process, from beginning to end. You are welcome to get in touch, and I look forward to hearing from you.
